What is Skill Base ?
SkillBase is a training project providing workforce development training for employees, trustees and volunteers of 3rd sector organisations.
SkillBase has been in operation since 2002 and as from end of August 2007 the Skill Base project became a countywide project, supporting primarily the membership of Chase CVS, Stafford District Voluntary Services and Community Council of Staffordshire. Recently Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services has become an additional member.
These members are also members of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Consortium of Infrastructure Organisations (SCIO) and where funding allows SkillBase works in partnership with other SCIO Members.
The Skill Base Project Aims and Outcomes
- A stronger and more confident local voluntary and community sector that will be able to deliver better and more efficient services to its users.
- An increase in the number of organisations that will have developed their employees and volunteers, improving their skills and knowledge.
- More voluntary and community groups will be able to self assess their own training needs.
- Voluntary Sector learning needs will have been addressed in a highly accessible and affordable way.
SkillBase Service
SkillBase Group Training Programme
SkillBase provides training across Staffordshire to meet the requests of the 3rd sector. Bookings can be made by organisations for individual places.

SkillBase Bespoke / In House Training Programme
In addition to our group training programme, SkillBase can be commissioned to provide training for your organisation on an individual, bespoke basis whatever sector your organisation is defined as
This type of training is whereby the whole workshop is booked by a single organisation and the course content, venue and timing of the workshop is adapted to meet the needs of the organisation.
SkillBase Group Review Service
This is a free service to members of the SkillBase Consortium (i.e. members of Chase CVS, SDVS and Community Council of Staffordshire.
The SkillBase Training Coordinator provides a one to one service using the tool kit, to concentrate on establishing the training needs of a 3rd sector organisation and then coming up with an action plan and sourcing delivery of the training needed for the organisation’s workforce.
PQASSO Implementation Workshop
The SkillBase Training Coordinator is a qualified PQASSO Mentor and offers a 2 day PQASSO Implementation workshop, along with a follow up workshop.
PQASSO is a quality assurance system that allows groups to find out and respond to the needs of their users, so that the organisation can provide an appropriate service consistently and to agree standards. The PQASSO self assessment provide requires the organisation to provide evidence to support this.
SkillBase Training Forum
SkillBase delivers a training forum quarterly, to discuss workforce development agenda items for the 3rd sector and training of service users, bringing in appropriate speakers to cover the subject areas.
Other one to one support
SkillBase provides one to one information advice and guidance on workforce development issues to 3rd sector groups by email and telephone.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation after time of booking but prior to 14 days before the workshop will incur a £10 cancellation fee, if a substitute delegate is not provided.
If you cancel within 14 days of the workshop, irrespective of discounts the original attendance fee of either Band 1,2 or 3 will be charged, if a substitute is not provided.
Your organisation will be invoiced after the workshop.
Eligibility:
Workshops are open to all, i.e. 3rd sector, public and private sector, unless otherwise stated
Pricing Structure
Band 1 for employees, volunteers and trustees of voluntary and community organisations who are members of SDVS, Chase CVS, Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services and Community Council of Staffordshire
Band 2 for employees, volunteers and trustees of voluntary and community organisations in Staffordshire that are not members of those umbrella organisations
Band 3 for all other categories, i.e. 3rd sector groups outside of Staffordshire, private and statutory organisations.
Food & Beveridges….Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided free for all half day workshops, with a free light buffet lunch provided on full day workshops.
How to be kept informed?
SkillBase produces a weekly ebulletin, informing groups of new workshops, spaces on workshops plus advice and information relating to workforce development. Skillbase also promotes its service in other ebulletins such as Staffordshire Third Sector Network, SDVS headlines and Chase CVS ebulletin.
