This page introduces the wide range of support that is available from SDVS to support the work of voluntary and community groups - be they new or existing ventures. Follow the relevant links to find out more about the areas that interest you.
Funding:
All groups share an ongoing challenge of attracting sufficient funding to help them do their work and this is often the reason groups first contact SDVS. We have considerable experience and expertise in this field and we aim to provide a comprehensive, up to date and accessible funding support service. Follow this link to Resources Page
Development:
Voluntary & Community groups vary tremendously in size and scope, having widely varying support needs at different stages of development. SDVS recognises the diversity and aims of the local sector and can provide support and assistance at every stage; from initial setting up a group, helping with the development of projects, policies, governance and growth including examples of best practice and if necessary, helping groups to wind up.

Forums and networking:
Quite often, groups develop through being able to ‘network’ with other similarly minded people and organisations, learning from shared experiences. SDVS assists the local sector by providing opportunities for people to meet and publicises other useful events and forums through the interactive calendar.
Training:
Most successful organisations understand the importance of training and SDVS offer a wide range of support to groups through our SkillBase project. Visit the SkillBase page by clicking here to see what courses are currently available amnd how you can access training.
Resources:
A large range of practical support is also available to groups. This ranges from facilities here at SDVS, to specific information leaflets on a wide range of topics. In most circumstances our development services are offered free to voluntary and community groups, however, SDVS reserves the right to make small charges for this support where deemed necessary.
