They have seen a noticeable increase in some organisations submitting checks for volunteers who are not eligible for a DBS check, and this gives some basic guidance.  Reminder on volunteers and DBS checks

One Day Free Workshop for Volunteer Co-ordinator

On Wednesday 17th September, Stafford Volunteer centre are hosting a free one day course in Stafford at the Staffordshire University Beaconside campus revolving around Issues in Recruiting and supporting volunteers.

The Course will include talks and information on the following:

  • Equal opportunities and volunteers needing more support
  • Developments regarding do-it.org.uk which may affect your organisation
  • DBS (disclosure and Barring) checks
  • Recruiting and supporting ex-offenders as volunteers


This course is for volunteer co-ordinators and those who have involvement in recruitment and provision for volunteers. It will be held at the Staffordshire University Beaconside Campus where there will be ample parking, and includes lunch and refreshments.
